Thanks for this Alan. I found it very helpful and most of it resonates with me. When you start off in leadership you don’t expect the moments of darkness or apparent failure and they can almost overwhelm you, because they seem contrary to success. I also agree that it is the family crises which occur, often independent from your own leadership context, that are the hardest to deal with because they overshadow everything and leave you unable to make wise leadership decisions. At such times it is good to back off decisions until the crisis is managed into a better place.
